Jakarta (B2B) - Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS) melaporkan laju inflasi pada Agustus 2014 mencapai 0,47%, atau lebih rendah dari bulan sebelumnya 0,93%. Inflasi Agustus 2014 merupakan bulan Agustus yang terendah dalam delapan tahun terakhir.
Menurut Kepala BPS Suryamin, harga berbagai komoditas pada Agustus 2014 secara umum menunjukkan adanya kenaikan dan memicu inflasi. Kenaikan harga tersebut ditunjukkan oleh naiknya indeks beberapa kelompok pengeluaran, yaitu: kelompok bahan makanan 0,36%; kelompok makanan jadi, minuman, rokok, dan tembakau 0,52%.
Kemudian kelompok perumahan, air, listrik, gas, dan bahan bakar berkontribusi terhadap inflasi 0,73%; kelompok sandang 0,23%; kelompok kesehatan 0,33%; serta kelompok pendidikan, rekreasi, dan olah raga 1,58%.
"Sementara kelompok transpor, komunikasi, dan jasa keuangan menunjukan penurunan indeks 0,12 persen," tutur Suryamin kepada pers di Jakarta, Senin.
Beberapa komoditas yang mengalami kenaikan harga pada Agustus 2014 antara lain: tarif listrik, ikan segar, uang sekolah SD, uang sekolah SMP, beras, daging ayam ras, tarif kontrak rumah, uang sekolah SMA, kangkung, ketimun, cabai merah, cabai rawit, mie, nasi dengan lauk, rokok kretek, rokok kretek filter, tarif sewa rumah, uang sekolah TK, uang kuliah Akademi/PT, dan tarif angkutan udara.
Sedangkan komoditas yang mengalami penurunan harga adalah: bawang merah, tarif an`gkutan antar kota, tomat sayur, telur ayam ras, tomat buah, bawang putih, dan telepon seluler.
Dari 82 kota IHK, tercatat 66 kota kota mengalami inflasi dan 16 kota mengalami deflasi. Inflasi tertinggi terjadi di Tanjung Pandan 1,98% dengan IHK 121,24 dan terendah terjadi di Banjarmasin 0,02% dengan IHK 111,63.
"Sedangkan deflasi tertinggi terjadi di Ternate 1,02 persen dengan IHK 116,00 dan terendah terjadi di Samarinda 0,01 persen dengan IHK 115,17," ungkap dia.

Some of the other contributors to the August 2014 inflation rate were the prices of fresh fish at 0.04 percent, elementary school tuition fees at 0.04 percent, junior high school tuition fees at 0.03 percent, and rice prices at 0.02 percent.
Other factors contributing to the August 2014 inflation rate due to price hikes were purebred chicken at 0.02 percent, house rents at 0.02 percent, and senior high school tuition fees at 0.02 percent.
However, the prices of onion fell 0.03 percent, intercity transport tariffs dropped 0.03 percent, and tomato prices declined 0.02 percent.
The August 2014 inflation rate was greatly fueled by the group of educational services, recreation and sports at 1.58 percent and the group of housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel contributing 0.73 percent.
"The group of educational services contributed to the inflation as August is the start of the new academic year, and educational fees increased accordingly. The housing group was affected by the hike in electricity tariff," he added.
