Jakarta (B2B) - Badan Nasional Penanggulangan Bencana (BNPB), mencatat kerugian ekonomi dampak kebakaran hutan di Riau pada Februari hingga April 2014 mencapai Rp20 triliun.
"Seluas 2.398 hektare hutan cagar biofer dan 21.914 lahan pertanian dan perkebunan di Riau terbakar," kata Kepala Pusat Data dan Informasi Humas BNPB, Sutopo Purwo Nugroho di Jakarta, akhir pekan lalu.
Dampak kebakaran hutan di Riau, kata dia, juga merugikan lingkungan hidup, politik, kesehatan dan lainnya.
"Asap hasil kebakaran hutan yang cukup parah itu, mengakibatkan 58 ribu warga Riau terserang Ispa dan sekolah-sekolah diliburkan," ujarnya.
Menurut dia, 99% kebakaran di Riau karena aktivitas masyarakat dan perusahaan perkebunan membuka lahan perkebunan baru skala besar.
Jakarta (B2B) - Material losses inflicted by forest and plantation fires in Riau Province, Sumatra, during February-April 2014, reached Rp20 trillion.
"Some 2,398 ha of biosphere reserve and 21,914 ha of agricultural and plantation areas in Riau were gutted by fires," Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, a spokesman of the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB), said here over last weekend.
Forest fires in Riau also affected the environment, health, business and politics, he added.
"Thick haze coming from forest fires caused 58 thousand inhabitants of Riau to have suffered from respiratory problem and schools to temporarily cease class activities," he stated.
He believed that 99 percent of forest fires in Riau were caused by human activities such as opening of new farming and plantation areas.
