Jakarta (B2B) - Maskapai nasional, PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk menargetkan penghematan biaya operasional  5% hingga 10% atau sekitar US$200 juta AS sebagai strategi efisiensi untuk menutupi  utang perusahaan sebanyak Rp2 triliun pada kuartal III 2014.

"Kami semakin ’secure’ untuk menghadapi persaingan-persaingan ke depan, kami akan menurunkan biaya operasi lima hingga 10 persen sebagai strategi efisiensi menurunkan biaya operasi hingga 200 juta dolar AS," kata Direktur Utama Garuda M Arif Wibowo seusai penandatangann kerja sama lindung nilai dengan sejumlah bank di Jakarta, Senin.

Namun, Arif mengatakan pengetatan biaya operasional tersebut tidak akan menurunkan pelayanan Garuda Indonesia sebagai maskapai bintang lima.

"Kami tidak akan menurunkan ’high quality’ sebagai maskapai bintang lima," katanya.

Selan itu, dia juga akan mendatangkan 15 pesawat pada 2015, di antaranya tiga pesawat Boeing 777-300, dua Airbus A330-200 dan sisanya pesawat ATR.

Sementara itu, pesawat yang dimiliki Garuda saat ini, di antaranya 11 Airbus 330-200, 11 Airbus 320-200, satu Boeing 737-300, dua Boeing 747-400, empat Boeing 737-500, 75 Boeing 737-800 NG, enam Boeing 777-300, 15 Bombardier CRJ 1000 dan delapan ATR 72-600.

Dengan adanya penambahan pesawat, lanjut Arif, frekuensi penerbangan juga akan ditambah dari 600 frekuensi penerbangan menjadi 650 frekuensi penerbangan.

"Kita juga akan memperkuat akses di daerah-daerah untuk rute-rute pengumpan dengan pakai propeler dan Garuda Explor," katanya.

Arif menyebutkan tahun ini akan mengoperasikan 17 rute dari 44 rute dengan pesawat ATR.

Untuk rute-rute luar negeri, lanjut dia, pihaknya menyasar Tiongkok karena pertumbuhan penumpang cukup tinggi dengan memindahkan frekuensi dari Jepang ke Tiongkok serta membuka rute Bali-Beijing.

Namun, ia menampik bahwa pihaknya mengambil rute maskapai lain karena menurut dia sudah sesuai dengan peraturan.

"We are increasingly becoming more secure in the face of future competition. We will slash our operational costs by about 5 to 10 percent as a strategy towards efficiency,"  President Director of Garuda Indonesia M Arif Wibowo said here on Monday.

However, Mr Wibowo noted that the tightening of operational expenditures will not be at the cost of the quality of services offered by the national flag carrier, a five-star airline.

"We will not compromise on our high-quality services as a five-star airline company," he affirmed.

In addition, Garuda will also procure 15 airplanes in 2015, which will include three Boeing B-777-300s, two Airbus A330-200s, and ten ATR planes.

Among the airplanes currently owned by Garuda are 11 Airbus A200s, 11 Airbus A320-200s, one Boeing B-737-300, two Boeing B-747-400s, four Boeing B-737-500s, 75 Boeing B-737-NGs, six Boeing B-777-300s, 15 Bombardier CRJ-1000s, and eight ATR 72-600s.

With additional aircraft, Mr Wibowo pointed out, Garuda will also increase the frequencies of its flights from 600 to 650.

"We will also reinforce our access to various regions with feeder flight routes, using propeller and explorer Garuda airplanes," he stated.

Furthermore, Garuda will serve 17 of its 44 routes with ATR planes this year, Wibowo revealed.

With regard to overseas routes, the national flag carrier is looking at China because the growth of passengers along this route is high.

So Garuda has decided to switch its flight frequencies from Japan to China, opening a Bali-Beijing route.
