Jakarta (B2B) - Presiden AS Barack Obama memberikan ucapan selamat kepada presiden terpilih Joko Widodo melalui sambungan telepon langsung pada Rabu (23/7) sehari setelah Komisi Pemilihan Umum, KPU, mengumumkan pemenang Pilpres 2014.
Presiden AS Barack Obama menyampaikan selamat atas nama warga Amerika serikat kepada presiden terpilih yang masih menjabat sebagai gubernur DKI Jakarta, berdasarkan keterangan pers dari Kedutaan Besar AS untuk Indonesia di Jakarta, yang diterima Kamis.
Pada kesempatan tersebut, Presiden Obama menyatakan bahwa dalam ajang pemilihan presiden 2014 yang bebas dan jujur, rakyat Indonesia sekali lagi telah menunjukkan komitmennya untuk demokrasi.
Obama juga meyatakan AS sangat menghargai hubungan yang dekat dengan Indonesia, seperti kemitraan komprehensif Indonesia-AS yang telah mempererat ikatan bilateral dan memfasilitasi kerja sama yang lebih dalam pada tantangan regional dan global yang sama.
Obama juga menantikan untuk dapat segera bertemu langsung dalam waktu dekat ini dan memperluas hubungan antara kedua warga negara serta menyampaikan tujuan bersama di Asia dan dunia.
Tidak hanya Barack Obama, sebelumnya Perdana Menteri Australia Tony Abbot juga menelepon presiden terpilih Joko Widodo.
Pada Selasa (22/7) Komisi Pemilihan Umum Pusat di Jakarta menetapkan pasangan kandidat Joko Widodo dan Jusuf Kalla sebagai presiden dan wakil presiden terpilih untuk periode 2014-2019, dalam SK 536/Kpts/KPU/Tahun 2014.
KPU telah menetapkan pasangan calon presiden dan wakil presiden terpilih dalam Pemilu 2014 nomor urut 2, Ir. H. Joko Widodo dan Drs.
Muhammad Jusuf Kalla dengan perolehan suara 70.997.833 atau 53,15 persen dari total suara sah.
Presiden Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono menjadi orang pertama yang mengucapkan selamat pada pasangan presiden dan wakil presiden terpilih Joko Widodo (Jokowi) dan Jusuf Kalla (JK).

On Wednesday (July 23), President Obama called Jakarta Governor Joko Widodo to convey congratulations on behalf of his country for being elected as the next president of the Republic of Indonesia.
In a press release from the US Embassy to Indonesia received here on Wednesday, Obama stated that through this free and fair election, the people of Indonesia have once again shown their commitment to democracy.
The president reaffirmed that the United States deeply values the close and cooperative relationship with Indonesia, including the US-Indonesia Comprehensive Partnership, which has strengthened bilateral ties and facilitated deeper cooperation on common regional and global challenges.
President Obama is looking forward to meeting Joko Widodo at the earliest opportunity and working with him to deepen the US-Indonesia partnership, expand ties between the people of the two nations, and promote the shared objectives in Asia and around the world.
Earlier, Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott also had the opportunity to congratulate Joko Widodo during a telephonic conversation.
The General Elections Commission in Jakarta announced the running presidential candidate pair, Joko Widodo and Jusuf Kalla, as the elected president and vice president for the 2014-2019 term.
According to the commission, the winning presidential and vice presidential candidates in the 2014 election are Joko Widodo and Muhammad Jusuf Kalla who received 70,997,833 votes or 53.15 percent of the total valid votes.
