Fans were watching the action at Stamford Bridge in anticipation of becoming the first English team to win their maiden top-division title in 38 years.
Tottenham, who needed to win in west London to prolong their title bid, raced into a two-goal lead thanks to goals by Harry Kane and Son Heung-min before Gary Cahill and Eden Hazard ensured their rivals would finish the campaign without the Premier League trophy in their grasp.
