Burnley (B2B) - Manajer Chelsea Jose Mourinho memastikan bahwa penjaga gawang Thibaut Courtois akan terus dimainkan sembari tetap mempertahankan kiper nomor satu Petr Cech.
Courtois yang berusia 22 tahun dan kiper timnas Belgia mendapat isyarat untuk menjadi starter musim ini setelah kembali ke Stamford Bridge usai dipinjmankan kepada Atletico Madrid dan mengantarkan Chelsea mengalahkan Burnley 3-1 di Turf Moor pada laga pembuka mereka, seperti dilansir Yahoo Sports.
"Dia bukan pilihan pertama selama sisa musim ini. Dia pilihan pertama saya hari ini dan hari dia bermain cukup baik untuk menjadi pilihan pertama bagi pertandingan berikutnya," kata Mourinho.
"Tetapi manakala di tim Anda punya profesional top seperti Petr dan ketika Anda tidak bermain bagus maka Anda dalam bahaya.
"Saya tidak dalam bahaya dan Chelsea juga tidak dalam bahaya. Mereka aman karena mereka berdua penjaga gawang yang fantastis."
Cech telah satu dekade menjadi penjaga gawang senior Chelsea dan Mourinho sendiri belum siap mengakhiri karir kiper berusia 32 tahun itu di klub London tersebut.
"Saya ingin mempertahankan dia dan klub juga ingin mempertahankan dia. Semoga dia bertahan. Tak ada pemain yang senang ketika dia tidak bermain pada setiap pertandingan tapi saya tahu Petr dan dia tidak akan tenang.
"Dia tidak akan duduk-duduk di kursi dan bilang 'saya tak punya kesempatan'. Dia akan sebaliknya sehingga saya memperkirakan dia pergi ke pusat pelatihan Rabu nanti dan menjadi professional top untuk berjuang kembali ke gawang."
Courtois ditaklukkan triker Scott Arfield saat Burnley yang merupakan klub baru promosi yang mengguncang Chelsea dengan memimpin lebih dulu.
Tetapi tiga gol dalam jangka waktu 17 menit mengantarkan Chelsea meraih tiga poin berkat gol pertama Diego Costa untuk Chelsea, serta dua gol dari Andre Schurrle dan Branislav Ivanovic.
Gol Schuerrle dihasilkan dari kreasi pemain kontrakan baru Cesc Fabregas. Mourinho meyakinkan bahwa mantan gelandang Barcelona dan Arsenal ini akan menjadi pemain kunci klubnya di tengah upaya mereka merebut gelar juara Liga Utama Inggris.
"Fabregas adalah pilihah pertama kami pada posisi itu," kata Mourinho.
Burnley - Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho confirmed that goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois will continue to play but expects long-standing number one Petr Cech to stay and fight for his place.
Belgium international Courtois, 22, got the nod to start the season after returning to Stamford Bridge from a loan spell with La Liga champions Atletico Madrid and helped Chelsea beat Burnley 3-1 at Turf Moor in their opening game.
"He is not my first choice for the rest of the season," said Mourinho.
"He was my first choice today and today he played well enough to be first choice for the next game.
"But when you have on your side a top professional like Petr and you don't perform you are in trouble.
"I am not in trouble and Chelsea are not in trouble. They are safe because they are both fantastic goalkeepers."
Cech has been Chelsea's senior goalkeeper for a decade and Mourinho is not ready to end the 32-year-old's career at the London club.
"I want to keep him and the club wants to keep him. Hopefully he stays. No player is happy when they're not playing every game but I know Petr and he will not relax.
"He will not sit in a chair and say 'I have no chance'. He will be the opposite so I am expecting him to go the training ground on Wednesday and to be a top professional and to fight to go back into goal."
Courtois was beaten by a superb strike from Scott Arfield as newly promoted Burnley stunned Chelsea by taking the lead.
But three goals in 17 minutes gave Chelsea the points thanks to Diego Costa's first for the club and further goals from Andre Schurrle and Branislav Ivanovic.
Schuerrle's goal was created by a superb pass from new signing Cesc Fabregas, with Mourinho convinced the former Barcelona and Arsenal midfielder is going to be a key player for his side as they look to challenge for the Premier League title.
"Fabregas was our first choice for that position," said Mourinho.
