KALAU ada yang meragukan popularitas abadi dari franchise Transformers, sebagai film terlaris akhir pekan lalu mungkin mereka berpikir dua kali.
Film keempat ini meraup US$100 juta dalam pemutaran perdana di AS dan posisinya bakal bertahan sebagai film blockbuster musim panas, seperti dilaporkan Just Jared yang dikutip MailOnline.
Pada hari pertama pemutarannya, film ini meraup pendapatan US$41,6 juta, sebagai hari terbaik untuk menyedot penonton ke bioskop sebanyak-banyaknya.
Mark Warhlberg menggantikan Shia La Beouf sebagai pemeran utama film ini yang didasarkan kisah Hasbro. Dia tampil didampingi Jack Reynor dan Nicola Peltz.
Nicola mengatakan kepada situs Chicago Maroon: 'Saya sejak kecil sudah menjadi penggemar Transformers, saya dibesarkan dengan begitu banyak saudara dan mereka semua menyukainya."
"Saya pikir inilah kesempatan terbaik menjadi aktris film, untuk membawa robot ini tampak nyata dan dapat menjadi bagian utama cerita film."
Di luar AS, film ini juga menyedot isi kantong penontonnya hingga US$201,3 juta dari total pemasukan karcis di seluruh dunia US$301,3 juta.
Sementara film 22 Jump Street terbukti masih populer dengan posisi kedua dengan perolehan US$15 juta.
Film yang diibintangi Channing Tatum dan Jonah Hill, merupakan film petualangan tentang dua polisi yang menyamar di sebuah universitas.
Dan di tempat ketiga akhir pekan ini adalah film animasi anak berjudul How to Train Your Dragon 2.
Kini memasuki pekan ketiga di bioskop di seluruh negeri, dengan perolehan lumayan bagus US$13 juta.
Film animasi yang didasarkan pada buku populer karya Cressida Cowell, bintang komedi Jay Baruchel sebagai pengisi suara Hiccup sosok protagonis, pemuda Viking.

The fourth movie in the series took a whopping $100 million in its first days in the US and secured its position as the big summer action blockbuster, Just Jared reported.
On its opening day it took a staggering $41.6 million, making Friday the biggest day of the cinema this year.

Nicola told the Chicago Maroon website: 'I’ve been a huge Transformers fan as long as I can remember, I grew up with so many brothers and they all loved it so much.
'I thought the opportunity to shoot this was amazing, to bring these robots to life and be able to be a part of it.'
Outside of the US, the film performed well also taking $201.3 million for a worldwide total of $301.3 million.
Meanwhile 22 Jump Street was still proving popular taking second place at the US box office with $15 million.
