The group of 26 terrified thrill seekers were stranded at around 2.10pm when the Air rollercoaster suffered what the Staffordshire park described as a ´minor technical stoppage´.
But while eyewitnesses claimed the group were ´suspended face down in the air´ - a claim which appears to be backed up by several photos (pictured) showing the ride frozen in mid-air - park bosses have categorically denied that the ride was stuck upside down.
An eyewitness said his colleague´s carriage ´smacked into´ another car.
He said one of his friends hit his head and another three hurt their necks.
