But it was his young son Stefan who took the internet by storm.
The toddler was captured in a seven-second-video watching the tennis match and pointing his dad out on the TV.
The footage was posted to Twitter by his mother Jelena, and has been viewed more than 6000 times and retweeted over 3000 times.
In the clip, the young boy can be heard calling out to his mother, who sits behind him while recording.
He then approaches the screen with his finger outstretched as if looking for his dad before a close-up shot of Andy Murray is shown.
Humorously, the youngster turns to his right and runs away.
Numerous people have also commented on the video to show their support for the youngster.
One person wrote: 'So cute I'm cheering on your boy from the UK,' while another said: 'How sweet is this? And daddy did it Stefan.'
A third joked: 'He ran away when he saw Andy.'
Novak beat the five-time Australian Open runner-up Andy Murray 6-1 7-5 7-6 (7-3).
The Serbian has now won his sixth Melbourne title, tying the record of Australia's Roy Emerson.
The 28-year-old also draws level with Bjorn Borg and Rod Laver on 11 Grand Slam titles.
