Soppeng District in Indonesia is Challenged to Raise 20% of Rice Production

Soppeng, Sulawesi Selatan (B2B) - Menteri Pertanian RI Amran Sulaiman menyerahkan bantuan alat mesin pertanian (Alsintan) kepada kelompok tani Mattunru-tunrue di Kecamatan Liliriaja, Kabupaten Soppeng, Sulawesi Selatan untuk mendukung program percontohan pertanian modern seluas 10 hektar.
Bantuan dari pemerintah RI melalui Kementerian Pertanian antara lain 60 unit traktor tangan, satu unit traktor roda empat, dua unit rice transplanter dan satu unit mesin combine serta benih untuk luas tanam 100 hektar.
"Saya berjanji akan mengatasi kelangkaan pupuk dengan menambah jatah pupuk di Soppeng jika pemerintah kabupaten mampu meningkatkan produksi hingga 20 persen," tantang Amran Sulaiman kepada Bupati Soppeng, Andi Soetomo disaksikan oleh Kepala Staf TNI Angkatan Darat (Kasad) Jenderal TNI Gatot Nurmantyo dan Gubernur Sulawesi Selatan Syahrul Yasin Limpo.
Bupati Soppeng menerima tantangan menteri, karena meningkatkan produksi hingga 20% tidaklah sulit, setelah mampu menyediakan pasokan cadangan 130 ton gabah kering giling.
"Produksi padi Soppeng sudah mencapai delapan ton per hektar, kami optimis bisa tercapai. Kalau 20 persen berarti butuh tambahan 1,6 ton per hektar, petani Soppeng mampu melakukannya untuk memproduksi 9,6 ton per hektar. Apalagi sudah ada bantuan dari Mentan," ungkap Soetomo.
Amran juga menargetkan pembangunan tersier rampung dalam dua tahun ke depan sehingga dapat mengairi sawah seluas 10 ribu hektar.

Assistance of agricultural mechanization is 60 units of hand tractors, a four-wheeled tractor, two units of rice transplanter, combine engine one unit and seeds for planting area of 100 acres.
"I promise to overcome scarcity of fertilizer by adding quota for Soppeng, if district government able to increase production up to 20 percent," Amran Sulaiman challenged Soppeng Regent, Andi Soetomo witnessed by the Army Chief of Staff Gen. Gatot Nurmantyo and South Sulawesi Governor Syahrul Yasin Limpo.
Soppeng Regent accept the challenge of minister, because it increases production of up to 20% is not difficult, after able to provide reserve supplies 130 tons of milled rice.
"Rice production in Soppeng has reached eight tons per hectare, our optimism can be achieved. If 20 percent means that it took an additional 1.6 tons per hectare. We are confident to produce 9.6 tons per hectare," Soetomo said.
Sulaiman also targets the development the tertiary irrigation completed two years in order to irrigate 10 thousand hectares of rice fields.
