Surabaya, Jawa Timur (B2B) - Direktur Jenderal Hortikultura di Kementerian Pertanian RI (Kementan) Spudnik Sujono siang ini, Kamis (11/8) dijadwalkan melakukan panen raya bawang merah di Kabupaten Nganjuk, Provinsi Jawa Timur bersama Direktur Jenderal Perdagangan Dalam Negeri di Kementerian Perdagangan RI, Oke Norman.
Kehadiran dua pejabat eselon satu di era Pemerintahan Joko Widodo - Jusuf Kalla menunjukkan sinergi dua kementerian mendukung pencapaian ketahanan pangan, sementara Menteri Pertanian RI Andi Amran Sulaiman dan Menteri Perdagangan RI Enggartiasto Lukita melakukan kunjungan kerja ke Provinsi Jawa Barat dan Jawa Tengah untuk memantau suplai dan harga pangan di kedua provinsi tersebut.
"Perkembangan produksi bawang merah di Nganjuk cukup pesat, dari capaian areal tanam seluas 5.250 hektar pada 2008 melonjak menjadi 10.300 pada 2010, sementara pada 2015 mencapai 11.785 hektar," kata Dirjen Spudnik di Surabaya sebelum bertolak ke lokasi panen bersama Dirjen Oke Norman.
Menurutnya, produktivitas bawang merah di Kabupaten Nganjuk juga telah mencapai angka yang cukup tinggi, pada musim penghujan (off season), bawang merah mampu berproduksi antara delapan hingga 12 ton per hektar, sedangkan di musim kemarau berkisar 14,5 hingga 24 per hektar bahkan pada daerah tertentu di Desa Sidokare dan Desa Mojorembun di Kecamatan Rejoso.
Turut mendampingi Dirjen Spudnik Direktur Sayuran dan Tanaman Obat, Yanuardi MM dan Kepala Subbagian Humas, Ina Ngana.
Seruan Mentan Amran Sulaiman
Pekan lalu, tepatnya pada Sabtu (6/8), Spudnik Sujono pun menyediakan waktu untuk berkunjung ke Desa Sukorejo di Kecamatan Rejoso, salah satu desa yang dipilih oleh kelompok tani setempat pada awal 2015 untuk menguji coba varietas Tajuk di lahan seluas 1.000 meter persegi, dengan produksi rata-rata 15 ton pada musim kemarau.
"Saya apresiasi petani di sini yang berhasil mengembangkan Tajuk karena petani sadar pada ketersediaan varietas unggul untuk meningkatkan produksi bawang merah. Ada Bauji yang unggul di musim hujan karena tahan terhadap air dan Tajuk yang cocok ditanam di musim kemarau," kata Spudnik setelah panen bawang merah di Kabupaten Nganjuk pada Sabtu (6/8).
Dia mendorong petani setempat untuk memasarkan benih tersebut ke daerah lain di luar Nganjuk sehingga dapat mendukung program peningkatan produksi bawang merah untuk memenuhi kebutuhan konsumen di seluruh Indonesia yang terus meningkat, sementara selama ini sebagian besar petani memperoleh benih yang diproses dari penyimpanan hasil panen.
"Saya harapkan petani di sini mendukung seruan Menteri Pertanian RI untuk menanam bawang merah di luar musim atau off seasons untuk menjaga pasokan tetap tersedia sepanjang tahun dan dampak positifnya dapat mencegah impor," kata Spudnik.
Ketua Asosiasi Penangkar Benih Bawang Merah Kabupaten Nganjuk, Bambang Suparno menyambut baik ajakan Dirjen Spudnik Sujono, dan saat ini pihaknya telah memenuhi pesanan benih dari Kabupaten Bantul, Yogyakarta dan Enrekang (Sulawesi Selatan).
Menurutnya, varietas Tajuk menjadi andalan petani Nganjuk setelah ditanam pada lahan 1.000 m2 dapat dipanen 12 kuintal bawang merah, lebih banyak dari produksi varietas lokal hanya sekitar sembilan kuintal per 1.000 m2, dengan waktu tanam lebih singkat hanya 43 hari sementara varietas lain sampai 52 hari.

According to him, the productivity of onion in Nganjuk quite remarkable, in the rainy season (off season) production reached eight to 12 tonnes per hectare, while in the dry season about 14.5 to 24 tonnes per hectare even in certain areas such as in the Village and Village Sidokare Mojorembun in District Rejoso.

Agriculture Minister
Mr Sujono have been to Sukorejo village in Rejoso subdistrict, village who was selected by local farmers´ group in early 2015 to planted variety of Tajuk in the land of 1,000 square meters, with an average productivity of 15 tonnes in the dry season.
"I appreciate the local farmers successfully develop seed variety to increase the shallot production. There are variety of Bauji is more suitable to be planted during the rainy season because it is resistant to water, and Tajuk for the dry season," Sujono said after the onion harvest here on Saturday (August 6).
He encouraged the local farmers to expand the market of superior seeds to other areas outside of Nganjuk, so it can support the increase shallot production to meet the needs of consumers around the country continue to rise, while most of farmers obtain seed from the harvest storage.
"I expect the local farmers carry out the instructions of Agriculture Minister to plant shallot in the off seasons to maintain the supply the whole year and the positive impact it can prevent imported products," Sujono said.
Association chairman of local seed breeders, Bambang Suparno welcomed the government´s call, and now has to fulfill orders seeds of Bantul in Yogyakarta Province and Enrekang (South Sulawesi).
