Jakarta (B2B) - Pemerintah menargetkan produksi kakao nasional hingga 1,1 juta ton pada 2014, atau meningkat 37,5% dari realisasi produksi kakao pada 2013 yang mencapai 800 ribu ton. Pencapaian target dilakukan Kementerian Pertanian dengan melanjutkan program Gerakan Nasional Peningkatan Produksi dan Mutu Kakao (Gernas Kakao) tahun ini.

"Dengan pelaksanaan Gernas Kakao ini produksi kakao nasional didorong menjadi nomor dua di dunia dengan target sebesar 1,1 juta ton," ujarnya, Senin (6/1).

Gamal mengatakan program Gernas Kakao telah dilaksanakan pada 2009-2011 dengan kucuran anggaran sekitar Rp3 triliun serta cakupan areal 400.000 hektare atau 27% dari luas perkebunan kakao 1,6 juta ha saat ini.

Menurut dia, hasil produksi kakao yang diikutkan dalam program Gernas tersebut baru akan terlihat setelah 4 tahun dari pelaksanannya. Saat ini tanamannya sudah mulai berbuah.

Dia menjelaskan berdasarkan hasil pemantauan tim independen dari kalangan perguruan tinggi terhadap program Gernas Kakao dinyatakan hasilnya bagus, potensi peningkatan produksi luar biasa.

"Mereka merekomendasikan Gernas Kakao ini perlu dilanjutkan pada tahun ini, apalagi dampaknya terhadap industri hilir kakao ikut berkembang," katanya.

Untuk itu, lanjutnya, Kementan juga akan melakukan pembinaan petani ke daerah-daerah dengan alokasi anggaran sekitar Rp200 miliar.

Pada 2013 ekspor kakao Indonesia mencapai 295.900 ton dengan nilai US$794,8 juta,  menurun dibandingkan dengan tahun sebelumnya yang sebanyak 388.000 ton senilai US$1,05 miliar pada 2012.

Pada tahun ini Dirjen Perkebunan  juga akan melakukan peremajaan tanaman karet seluas 12.335 ha atau naik dari 2013 yang seluas 10.385 ha.


Jakarta (B2B) - The Indonesian government has set the target of national cacao production for 2014 at 1.1 million tons compared to 800 thousand tons last year. One of the efforts to increase cacao production was to continue the National Cacao Movement (Gernas Kakao) that was launched in 2009.

"By launched Gernas Kakao, Indonesia is poised to become the worlds second largest cacao producer," said Director General of Plantation at the Agriculture Ministry Gamal Nasir in here, Monday (1/6).

Gernas Kakao, which was originally planned to end in 2011, had been extended to 2014. During its three years of implementation, the government disbursed funds worth Rp3 trillion to rehabilitate and intensify 400 thousand hectares of cacao plantation, or 27 percent of the current cacao plantations which reach 1.6 million hectares.

According to Nasir, the production of cacao plantations incorporated in the Gernas Kakao program will be visible four years after it was launched.

The results of a research conducted by an independent team from an institute of higher learning showed that the plantations had the extraordinary potential to produce more cacaos.

"They (the team) have recommended that the Gernas Kakao program be continued this year in view of its impact on the growth of the cacao industry," he stated.

To that end, the government will nurture cacao growers across the country by allocating Rp200 billion by way of funds, he emphasized.

The government has targeted that Indonesia will be worlds top cacao producer by 2020, which could see it book 2 million tons of annual production.

In 2013, Indonesia exported 295.9 thousand tons of cacaos worth US$794.8 million, down from 388 thousand tons worth US$1.05 billion the year before.

The director general of plantations further pointed out that the government would rehabilitate 12,335 hectares of rubber plantation this year, up from 10,385 hectares last year.
