"Kami memiliki dua tuntutan. Pertama, kami menentang kenaikan harga BBM.

Jakarta (B2B) - Confederation of Indonesian Labor Unions (KSPI) president, Said Iqbal, said all industrial activities in Cikarang and Cibitung industrial estate, Bekasi, had been stopped as hundreds of labors protested on the increased fuel price. Said argued the fuel price hike will decrease the labors´ purchasing power up to 30 percent, as the price of basic commodities will also rise.

"We have two demands. First is that we oppose the increase of fuel price. Second, if the fuel price increases, we demand the regional minimum wage to increase by 50 percent," Said told Tempo today, June 21.

Fifteen thousand labors in Karawang and 10,000 in Bogor also rallied to protest on fuel price. "Labors in Pulogadung will also join the rally but I don´t know the number yet," he said.

Said continued, they would perform a national strike if the government does not respond. The strike is scheduled to take place on August 16, when Presdient Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono gives speech on the state budget (APBN).

"If the government does not respond the rally, we may perform the national strike sooner," he emphasized.
