Jakarta [B2B] - Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Hadi Tjahjanto confirmed that public services at the Temporary National Data Center (PDNS) 2 which was attacked by ransomware will return to normal this July.

"In accordance with the President's orders, the month of July has been operating normally and we are backing up security in layers so that the same problems as those that occurred this month do not occur," said Hadi after chairing a coordination meeting at the Office of the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs. (Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs), on Monday (1/7).

Hadi said that currently government services using PDNS 2 are in the process of being restored. Backup data from the servers at PDNS 2 Surabaya will be completely located at the National Data Center (PDN) located in Batam.

"If operationally the Temporary National Data Center is running, there are disruptions, there are still backups, namely at the DRC or hotsite in Batam and can autogate interactive service and every data center owner also has a backup so there are at least three to four layers of backup," he said.

Furthermore, the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs asked all ministries, institutions and other government agencies to back up or back up data to anticipate cyber attacks such as those that occurred some time ago.

"Every tenant or ministry must also have a backup, this is mandatory, no longer optional. So that if operationally the Temporary National Data Center is running, there is a disruption, there will still be a back up," he stressed.

Hadi said the government would prepare arrangements regarding the placement of data and reserves in layers according to the level of data classification starting from strategic, limited, to open data.

"So later data that is general in nature, then data that is like statistics and so on will be stored in the cloud so that the data in PDN is not full," he said.

In addition, said the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, the State Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) will continue to improve cyber security by connecting the BSSN command control and activating the Computer Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT) which will continue to monitor PDN management and data backup efforts.

"We have also been ordered by the President to review presidential regulations/presidential instructions related to cyber operations, including BSSN and its staff, so that later command and control will be easy if problems occur," he stressed.
