PEMERINTAH RI berencana meluncurkan sistem teknologi pada Januari tahun depan yang memanfaatkan 44 server untuk memblokir situs web yang menampilkan konten pornografi dan penyebaran faham radikalisme.
Indonesia sebagai negara berpenduduk mayoritas Muslim terpadat di dunia terus meningkatkan pengawasan konten online menyusul meningkatnya penyebaran berita bohong dan pernyataan kebencian, serta UU antipornografi.
Teknologi digital didukung 'sistem crawling' mampu mendeteksi konten internet terlarang dan mengeluarkan peringatan saat ada materi yang tidak pantas, kata Semuel Pangerapan, Dirjen Aplikasi Informasi di Kementerian Komunikasi dan Informasi (Kemenkominfo) kepada pers, Rabu.
Kementerian tersebut akan segera memblokir situs milik asing yang membawa konten semacam itu, namun aplikasi seperti layanan pesan akan mendapat peringatan terlebih dahulu, tambahnya.
Pekan ini, Indonesia mengancam akan memblokir layanan messenger WhatsApp Facebook Inc karena gambar Graphics Interchange Format (GIF) yang tidak senonoh disediakan oleh pihak ketiga dalam layanan ini.
Tenor Inc, salah satu penyedia GIF untuk WhatsApp, telah diblokir di Indonesia.
Tenor menyatakan pihaknya telah "menerapkan perbaikan" untuk masalah ini, kata jurubicara Tenor pada Selasa. Pada Rabu, Pangerapan mengatakan bahwa kementerian tersebut akan memantau filter Tenor untuk beberapa hari berikutnya sebelum mencabut larangan tersebut.
Pekan depan, Kemenkominfo akan memanggil eksekutif dari perusahaan berbasis internet lainnya, seperti Google dan Twitter Alfabet Inc, tambahnya.
Kementerian tersebut akan membahas konten Indonesia yang tidak memungkinkan untuk diedarkan, katanya.
Data Kemenkominfo menyatakan bahwa Indonesia telah memblokir sekitar 780.000 situs web hingga akhir September, sebagian besar berisi konten pornografi. Situs yang diblokir lainnya menampilkan materi yang menampilkan kekerasan, perjudian dan radikalisme.
Pemerintah juga meminta masyarakat untuk melaporkan konten online yang cabul.
"Warga perlu aktif untuk menandai konten yang tidak pantas, tidak hanya di WhatsApp tapi juga di Facebook dan Twitter," kata Pangerapan seperti dikutip Reuters yang dilansir MailOnline.

The world's most populous Muslim-majority nation has stepped up scrutiny of online content following a surge of hoax stories and hate speech, as well as a controversial anti-pornography law pushed by Islamist parties.
The so-called "crawling system" searches internet content and issues alerts when inappropriate material is found, Semuel Pangerapan, a director general at the communications and informatics ministry, told reporters.
The ministry would immediately block foreign-owned sites carrying such content, but applications such as messaging services would receive warnings first, he added.
This week, Indonesia threatened to block Facebook Inc's WhatsApp messenger service because of obscene Graphics Interchange Format (GIF) images provided by third parties on the service.
Tenor Inc, one of the GIF providers for WhatsApp, has been blocked in Indonesia.
The company has "implemented a fix" for the issue, a Tenor spokeswoman said on Tuesday. On Wednesday, Pangerapan said the ministry would monitor Tenor's filter for the next few days before it lifts the ban.
Next week, the communications ministry will summon executives from other internet-based companies, such as Alphabet Inc's Google and social media operator Twitter , he added.
The ministry would discuss content Indonesia does not allow to be circulated, he said.
Ministry data showed that Indonesia had blocked around 780,000 websites by the end of September, mostly those with pornographic content. Other blocked sites displayed material featuring violence, gambling and radicalism.
The government has also asked the public to report obscene online content.
"People need to be active to flag inappropriate content, not only on WhatsApp but also on Facebook and Twitter," Pangerapan said.
