MEXICAN President Enrique Pena Nieto and his glamorous wife have touched down in Brisbane ahead of this weekend's G20 summit.
Other world leaders arrived solo on Thursday and Friday or were surrounded by advisers but Mr Pena Nieto arrived in the Queensland capital linking arms with his wife Angelica Rivera, a former singer and soap star.
Federal Attorney-General George Brandis was among the officials to greet the Mexican leader and First Lady when their jet touched down at 10.20am AEST.
The couple may be relieved to be in Australia to focus on global economic issues, with the pair battling an emerging controversy over Ms Rivera's purchase of a $US7 mansion built by a company that later briefly won a lucrative bullet train contract.
Mr Pena Nieto's government has also come under fire recently for its handling of the apparent massacre of 43 students in Mexico.
The trainee teachers went missing last month and it is believed they were later found incinerated and in mass graves after they held a protest against hiring discrimination in the city of Iguala.
Mr Pena Nieto and Ms Rivera met in 2008 when he was the Governor of the State of Mexico and she joined his campaign.
Ms Rivera featured in the popular Mexican telenovela Dulce Desafío in the 1980s and also sang alongside latino heartthrob Ricky Martin in the band Muñecos De Papel in the 1990s.
On Friday, Brisbane began its transformation from the laid back capital of Queensland to the temporary home of some of the most powerful people in the world.
South Korean President Park Geun-hye was among the heavy run of arrivals into Brisbane on Friday for the G20 leaders' summit.
Her official jumbo jet touched down at a special G20 terminal at the Brisbane international airport at 9am AEST.
The president was met by Queensland Premier Campbell Newman and his wife Lisa, federal Assistant Defence Minister Stuart Robert and Australia-based South Korean diplomats before heading to her large motorcade to travel to the city centre.
The G20 airport on Thursday hosted aircraft carrying Crown Prince Salman of Saudi Arabia, Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff and International Monetary Fund head Christine Lagarde.
South Africa's President Jacob Zuma arrived on Wednesday.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who will also visit Canberra next week when he will address the Australian parliament, arrived on Friday.
Mr Modi is the first Indian leader to visit Australia in 28 years.
Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe also touched down on Friday.
Many of the G20 leaders will jet in throughout the rest of the day, including the presidents of China and Indonesia, the prime ministers of the UK and Canada, and German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
But it will be the arrival of Russian President Vladimir Putin that is bound to attract most attention.
His visit is highly contentious due to Russia's role in the downing of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 over Ukraine in July. A total of 298 people, including 38 Australian citizens and residents, were killed in the disaster.
Prime Minister Tony Abbott - who last month said he would 'shirtfront' Mr Putin on the MH17 issue - has already had one tense encounter with the Russian leader this week at the APEC summit in Beijing, and another is expected this weekend at the annual G20 summit.
Mr Putin will likely receive a hostile welcome from everyday Australians as well, with at least one anti-Putin protest planned for Saturday.
The last of the leaders arrive on Saturday, with US President Barack Obama and his huge entourage landing early in the morning. The president will deliver a speech at the University of Queensland before joining other G20 leaders.
