But we've come to the rescue and rifled through the mainstream real-world cars that also launched on Thursday in the French capital - here are our 10 favourites.
1. Nissan Micra
What makes the Micra such a compelling new model for the year ahead is Nissan's new strategy to move away from mass producing an affordable car for the global market in favour of tailoring its supermini for European drivers and roads.
In fact, this is the first time a Micra has been developed in Europe for 33 years, which could see recent dwindling sales replaced by a registration renaissance for a car once loved by Britons.
2. Honda Civic
This is the first time we've seen the new 10th generation Honda Civic in the flesh, and it looks as good as the concept car alluded at the beginning of the year at the Geneva Motor Show.
Already rolling through the production line at the carmaker's plant in Swindon, the five-door hatchback has grown in proportions - it's 13cm longer and 3cm wider than the ninth-generation car and also has a 3cm longer wheelbase.
3. Land Rover Discovery
The big boy Discovery is the last of the Land Rover range to receive the face-lift treatment, bringing the styling in line with the rest of the line-up.
In fact, it's easy to mistake the new model for the baby version, the Discovery Sport.
4. Mercedes-Benz AMG GT Roadster
This is the only £100k-plus motor we're featuring in this list, we promise, but we think it deserves its place.
It's the new Mercedes AMG GT Roadster - a wind-in-your-hair version of the stunning GT Coupe that launched last year.
5. Skoda Kodiaq
From sports car thrills to family-friendly practicality - this is the new Kodiaq, the biggest SUV Skoda has made yet.
We reckon this will be a big hit in the UK, too - a seven-seat SUV to rival the Kia Sorento with an affordable price tag is likely to spike the interest of many buyers.
6. Suzuki Ignis
Possibly one of the surprise packages of Paris, there's been a lot of love for the revamped Ignis on the opening two days of the event.
Whether this positive feedback translates into sales is another thing, but it seems to be a good start for this dinky car with SUV ambitions.
7. Audi Q5
The new Audi A5 makes it into our list not because it's outstanding in any way but for the fact it's one of the best-selling premium large family SUVs on the market today. So we'd imagine many people will be considering this one.
Despite the samey looks, there are changes to discuss.
8. Citroen C3
If Citroen has had one major success in recent years it's the C4 Cactus. The quirky crossover that blends family practicality, MPV proportions and wacky styling like Airbump door panels has received much praise and plenty of orders.
And the French carmaker, quick to spot its achievements, has decided to give the rather sorry C3 a new lease of life with some Cactus treatment.
9. BMW X2
Okay, we promised you no concepts, but this one has slipped through the net as it's destined to become a reality in 2018.
The X2, showcased in pre-production form in Paris, will complete the even-number SUV line-up for BMW that already consists of the X4 and X6 - both of which are more stylish versions of the odd-numbered offroaders preceding them.
10. Kia Rio
This is the fourth generation of the Kia Rio - a supermini alternative to the Ford Fiesta priced in the lower echelons of the market.
The Korean manufacturers seems to have thought the Rio needed to grow up, so have acted on the bigger-car ambitions by expanding the dimensions and kitting it out with features you wouldn't necessarily expect to find on a car of this size.
