Indonesian Govt Will Socialize Goat Meat as an Alternative of Animal Protein

Bandung, Jawa Barat (B2B) - Pemerintah Provinsi Jawa Barat mendukung langkah pemerintah meluncurkan program sapi indukan wajib bunting (Siwab) untuk mencapai target swasembada daging, namun hal itu sulit dilakukan di 'tanah Parahyangan' lantaran peternak setempat lebih mahfum melakukan budi daya kambing dan domba yang dinilai sebagai sumber protein hewan terbaik, serta merujuk pada perintah Allah SWT untuk menetapkan kambing dan domba sebagai hewan kurban pada perayaan Idul Adha.
Wakil Gubernur Jawa Barat, Deddy Mizwar mengatakan kampanye pola makan protein hewani masyarakat yang perlu diubah, dari daging sapi menjadi daging kambing atau domba sebagai substitusi daging sapi yang sampai saat ini Indonesia belum dapat memenuhi kebutuhan konsumen sehingga harus diimpor.
Pernyataan tersebut dikemukakan Wagub Deddy Mizwar dalam suasana hangat dan akrab di Soreang, ibu kota Kabupaten Bandung. Duduk di bagian tamu utama, antara lain, Menteri Pertanian RI Andi Amran Sulaiman; Pangdam III/Siliwangi Mayjen M Heriandra; Bupati Bandung H Dadang M Naser; Kepala Badan Karantina Pertanian (Barantan) Banun Harpini yang juga Ketua Upsus Pajale Jabar; Anggota Komisi IV DPR, Cucun A Syamsurijal; Staf Khusus Kasad, Brigjen TNI M Afifuddin; dan Karo Humas & Informasi Publik Kementan, Agung Hendriadi.
"Pengetahuan kuliner tentang mengolah daging kambing dan domba juga perlu disosialisasikan, demikian pula dengan cara memotong hewan ini sehingga daging tetap segar dan tidak bau. Singkat kata kelezatan dan kelenturan daging membuatnya lumer di lidah," kata aktor film kawakan dekade yang dijuluki 'Jenderal Naga Bonar' lantaran popularitas film tersebut.
Menurutnya, budi daya kambing dan domba bukan hal baru bagi warga di tanah Parahyangan khususnya di Kabupaten Subang dan Kabupaten Garut yang dikenal piawai beternak domba dan kambing.
Instruksi Presiden
Mentan Andi Amran Sulaiman menyambut baik saran dari Wagub Jabar Deddy Mizwar, karena pada akhir Agustus 2016 (27/8) Presiden RI Joko Widodo menginstruksikan dirinya untuk mendukung sosialisasi kepada masyarakat tentang daging kambing dan domba sebagai makanan sehat dan aman untuk dikonsumsi, bahkan Presiden mengaku menyantap sate kambing hampir setiap hari tanpa ada keluhan kesehatan khususnya kolesterol dan darah tinggi.
“Daging kambing itu sehat. Saya juga tiap hari makan sate kambing juga engak apa-apa, kolesterol saya juga masih rendah,” kata Presiden Jokowi yang didampingi Mentan Amran Sulaiman pada temu wicara dengan para peternak yang tergabung dalam Himpunan Peternak Domba Kambing Indonesia (HPDKI) pada Sabtu (27/8) di Kebon Raya Bogor, Jawa Barat.
Instruksi Presiden Jokowi tersebut menyikapi keluhan para anggota HPDKI yang kerap kesulitan memperdagangkan hewan ternaknya lantaran stigma tentang daging kambing memicu darah tinggi dan mempengaruhi kadar kolesterol di tubuh manusia.
"Kami keberatan dengan stigma tersebut, karena daging kambing itu sehat seperti halnya daging sapi tapi selama ini masyarakat lebih suka makan torpedo dan jeroannya, mestinya yang dikonsumsi masyarakat adalah dagingnya," kata seorang peternak kambing.
Mentan menambahkan bahwa masyarakat perlu menyadari bahwa sumber protein hewani bukan hanya daging sapi, karena daging kambing dan domba sehat untuk dikonsumsi.
Amran Sulaiman menambahkan, populasi ternak domba dan kambing pada 2011 hingga 2015 rata-rata meningkat 5,8% per tahun, ternak domba mencapai 17 juta ekor dan 19 juta ekor kambing di seluruh Indonesia, dan diharapkan meningkat pada periode lima tahun berikutnya, 2017 - 2022.
"Insya Allah kita akan mendorong ekspor dan ini menjadi perhatian pemerintah ke depan," kata Mentan kepada pers.

The Presidential Instruction
Minister Sulaiman welcomed the advice of Deputy Governor Deddy Mizwar, because in late August 2016 (27/8) President Joko Widodo instructed him to support the disseminate to the public about goat meat and lamb as an alternative source of of animal protein, even the President admitted to eat goat satay almost every day without complaint, especially cholesterol and high blood pressure.
"Goat meat is healthy. I am every day eat goat satay was still healthy, my cholesterol is still low," President Widodo said was accompanied by Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman on a dialogue with the farmers of the Union of Breeders Sheep and Goat Indonesia (HPDKI) here on Saturday (August 27).
The socialization instruction addressing complaints of sheep and goat farmers, which are often difficult to sell their cattle because the stigma of goat meat trigger high blood pressure and affect the cholesterol levels in the human body.
"We protest to the stigma, because goat meat is healthy as well as beef but because people would rather eat the offal of goats, it should be consumed the meat," said a goat farmer.
Minister Sulaiman added that the public needs to realize that the source of protein not only beef, goat meat and lamb are also healthy and safe to eat.
He added, sheep and goat population in Indonesia in 2011 - 2015 increased by an average of 5.8% per year, 17 million head of sheep and 19 million goats, and is expected to increase in the next five-year period, 2017-2022.
"God willing we will encourage exports and the government´s concern for the future," Minister Sulaiman said.
