Hal ini disampaikan Presiden Jokowi secara resmi membuka Konferensi dan Pameran Kelapa Internasional (Cocotech) ke-51 Tahun 2024, yang digelar di Ballroom Hotel Westin, Kota Surabaya, Jawa Timur, pada Senin (22/7).
"Ke depan, ekonomi hijau merupakan peluang, merupakan potensi yang sangat besar bagi negara kita Indonesia, baik itu yang berkaitan dengan cokelat, bakau, vanili, kopi, lada, cengkeh dan yang lain-lainnya. Dan yang terutama yang memiliki potensi besar adalah kelapa, kita memiliki luas lahan 3,8 juta untuk kelapa dengan produksi 2,8 juta ton per tahun, ini sangat besar," ujar Jokowi.
Lebih lanjut, Presiden Jokowi juga menyoroti ekspor kelapa Indonesia yang mencapai USD1,55 miliar berdasarkan data yang ada. Menurut Presiden, dua provinsi sebagai produsen kelapa terbesar di Indonesia yakni Provinsi Sulawesi Utara dan Riau.
“Ini juga sebuah angka yang sangat besar dan bisa ditingkatkan lagi kalau kita serius kita mau menyeriusi urusan yang berkaitan dengan kelapa,” ungkap Presiden.
Dalam upaya meningkatkan produksi kelapa, Presiden Jokowi menyoroti kualitas bibit, pemeliharaan, dan metode panen sebagai faktor kunci. Selain itu, Presiden juga menekankan pentingnya hilirisasi dalam rangka meningkatkan nilai tambah produk kelapa untuk mendukung industri dan menciptakan lapangan kerja.
“Riset merupakan hal yang sangat penting dalam hal ini. Kemudian memanfaatkan teknologi hilirisasi dalam rangka ke sana. Saya banyak melihat limbah kelapa sekarang menjadi bioenergi, ini penting saya kira ke depan ini terus bisa dikembangkan,” ucap Presiden.
Terakhir, Presiden Jokowi mengajak komunitas kelapa internasional untuk bersatu dalam memajukan industri kelapa yang berkelanjutan. Presiden menyebut konferensi ini sangat penting bagi Indonesia, dan Indonesia juga berkepentingan untuk memperkenalkan potensi besar kelapa nasional.
“Saya mengajak seluruh komunitas kelapa internasional untuk bersinergi memajukan industri kelapa yang berkelanjutan yang mendukung ekonomi hijau dunia,” tutur Presiden.
Konferensi Cocotech ke-51 yang mengambil tema “Pemanfaatan Potensi Kelapa sebagai Pohon Kehidupan dan Energi Hijau” diharapkan dapat memperluas jejaring dan mencari peluang baru bagi pengembangan industri kelapa di Indonesia, serta memperkenalkan potensi besar kelapa Indonesia secara global.

This was conveyed by President Jokowi to officially open the 51st International Coconut Conference and Exhibition (Cocotech) in 2024, which was held at the Ballroom of the Westin Hotel, Surabaya City, East Java, on Monday (22/7).
"In the future, the green economy is an opportunity, a huge potential for our country, Indonesia, whether it is related to chocolate, mangroves, vanilla, coffee, pepper, cloves and others. And what especially has great potential is coconut "We have a land area of 3.8 million for coconuts with a production of 2.8 million tonnes per year, this is very large," said Jokowi.
Furthermore, President Jokowi also highlighted Indonesia´s coconut exports which reached USD1.55 billion based on existing data. According to the President, two provinces are the largest coconut producers in Indonesia, namely North Sulawesi and Riau Provinces.
"This is also a very large number and can be increased further if we are serious about taking matters related to coconuts seriously," said the President.
In an effort to increase coconut production, President Jokowi highlighted seed quality, maintenance and harvest methods as key factors. Apart from that, the President also emphasized the importance of downstreaming in order to increase the added value of coconut products to support industry and create jobs.
“Research is very important in this matter. Then utilize downstream technology to get there. "I see a lot of coconut waste now being turned into bioenergy, this is important. I think this can continue to be developed in the future," said the President.
Finally, President Jokowi invited the international coconut community to unite in advancing a sustainable coconut industry. The President said this conference was very important for Indonesia, and Indonesia also had an interest in introducing the great potential of national coconuts.
"I invite the entire international coconut community to work together to advance a sustainable coconut industry that supports the world´s green economy," said the President.
The 51st Cocotech Conference with the theme "Utilizing the Potential of Coconut as a Tree of Life and Green Energy" is expected to expand networks and seek new opportunities for the development of the coconut industry in Indonesia, as well as introducing the great potential of Indonesian coconut globally.
